Week 1 - Self Assessment Results

MBTI Personality Test

Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is one of the most widely used personality test that anyone can take. It was developed to measure the assignment of individuals into one of 16 personality types. I personally chose the free personality test offered by 16Personalities by NERIS Analytics Limited to take the MBTI since it is easy to understand and the results are pretty accurate.

According to 16Personalities, a Virtuoso (ISTP) is someone with the introverted, observant, thinking, and prospecting personality traits. They tend to have an individualistic mindset, pursuing goals without needing much external connection. They engage in life with inquisitiveness and personal skill, varying their approach as needed. With the given result, I am quite satisfied with what my personality test says.

BII Test

Berkeley Innovation Index (BII) is a kind of online assessment tool you can use to measure one's beliefs and behaviors in order to learn how they are correlated with those of successful entrepreneurs and innovators. I chose to take this test to discover my overall personal innovation mindset level.

UC Berkeley's Sutardja Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology (SCET) emphasizes that the result of the assessment is intended to provide me with a summary of my innovation mindset, as well as a learning aid for you to improve your innovation capability. Just like the previous personality test, I am also satisfied with this result.

Conclusion

"Although personality tests are not absolutely accurate, they are great tools to improve hiring decisions and ensure that the right people are hired into the right roles. The insights they provide can help better understand yourself and others leading to a more efficient and productive work environment." - Carly Gail, 2013.

By taking online self-assessment tools such as the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and Berkeley Innovation Index (BII), I discover and comprehend my personality. With the results given, I found out what areas of myself I need to maintain and improve so that I'll be capable of handling challenges in the career path I'll take in the near future.
